Advances in Hair Color and Hair Care

The hair industry has certainly undergone major changes over the past 30 years. One of my favorite developments is the fact that today we have so many hair care products custom which makes it much easier for our clients to make their hair look as good at home as we do in the lounge (or nearly as good). Our customers often complain of having difficulty picking up on what we do in the salon. We solve this problem by teaching them what style to use AIDS and how to use them properly. In the 70s, when I started in this industry, there was just cream, mousse and hair spray!

These days, we can give a lift to the root with a root booster, and shine through the end with finishing products. We can of course make thick hair feel thinner, and make thin hair thicker without looking greasy. Implement removal products are also very popular in our salon. Salon professional products leave little or no build up on hair. Some products on the market, however, do accumulate on your hair. Build product and accumulation of minerals in place (water shower) on your hair can leave it very flat and dull, and may cause discolouration. Tap water older, rusty plumbing pipes is particularly brutal, and I recommend installing a water filter in your shower to remedy.

Another area which has made spectacular progress is hair coloring. An amazing new product called Magma is able to operate on already colored hair and color, but it contains no ammonia! Usually, only bleach was able to do with already colored hair, and even then, the end does not come out as exactly the same color as the roots or the Shaft Zone.

I have many customers switched mine bleach for Magma and the results are amazing. The result color is much better then bleach, and offers a beautiful even color from root all the way to fine hair. There are some important guidelines with this color, and your designer needs to know to ensure success. So when you made your next color, be sure to ask your hairdresser about the latest techniques and color products. This way you do not ask me why that blonde you saw at the check out stand has wonderful blond highlights, but without that damaged and dry look that usually comes with Bleach!

How To Make Your Hair Volume Bigger

Do you have long hair and you want more volume?

Towel dry your hair and then pull the top of your head. Secure with a fat “elastic” (that will not damage or crease your hair) and then blow the hair dry scalp until it is dry.

This will give you plenty of volume with little effort.
